India is such a nice country where you can easily blend without problems. When it comes to cultural practices, Indias are very fond of them. It is therefore advised that as a visitor, you learn how to be at the right place at a time. We say “when you go to Rome, do as the Romans would do”. So if you are thinking of visiting there, then read ahead as I show you what you must not do when you visit India.
What You Must Not Do When You Visit India
Do Not Wear Shoes In A Temple Or Home
Religious buildings are regarded as sacred grounds in India. You do not have to enter the buildings in your shoes. Also, when you are invited into homes, you have to remove your shoes. There are also places where shoes are not allowed inside. Once you are entering a building and you see shoes outside, try and remove yours too.
Do Not Give or Receive With Your Left hand
In some parts of the world like Africa, pointing at, or receiving with your left hand is regarded as disrespect. This is the same in India. Over there, the left hand is seen as unclean. Unless for some special reason, you should never receive or give with your left hand.
Be careful with what you wear
In any part of the world, you can choose what to wear but not in India. Even in some Arab countries, women are supposed to cover some part of their bodies with clothes. Same with India, Skimpy clothes are not allowed. You can wear them in your bedroom and you will have no problem with anyone.
Do not show affection in public
Touching some part of the opposite gender or showing affection in the public could land you in Jail in India. If you have met someone you love, it is better to do it in the right way.
Do not smoke in public
In India, smoking in the public or doing drugs is prohibited. It could land you in jail. If you wish to do this, get a private room and have fun.
Do not think of eating beef
Cows are regarded as sacred by the largest religious group Hindus. Therefore, don’t run into any problem by searching for where you can get some to buy.
This and many little rules are been respected in India. If you wish to visit, try as much as possible to abide by them and you will have no problem. Thanks for reading.
